Anthony Goldstein
Introduction
Anthony Goldstein was a half-blood or pure-blood wizard and a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in Harry Potter's year. Sorted into Ravenclaw House, he was known for his intelligence and sense of responsibility, serving as a Prefect for his House during his fifth year. A loyal member of Dumbledore's Army, Anthony actively resisted Lord Voldemort's regime and fought bravely in the Battle of Hogwarts.
Biography
Hogwarts Years
Anthony began his education at Hogwarts in 1991 and was sorted into Ravenclaw House. His early years at the school are largely undocumented. In his fifth year, Anthony was appointed a Ravenclaw Prefect, alongside Padma Patil. That same year, in response to the poor quality of Defence Against the Dark Arts instruction under Professor Dolores Umbridge, Anthony joined the student-led defence group, Dumbledore's Army. He attended the initial meeting at the Hog's Head Inn and subsequently trained with other members in the Room of Requirement, learning practical defensive magic from Harry Potter. During his seventh year, with Hogwarts under the control of Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters, Anthony remained at the school and became a key member of the reformed Dumbledore's Army, led by Neville Longbottom, Ginny Weasley, and Luna Lovegood. He and other members used the Room of Requirement as a hideout from the Carrows, Alecto and Amycus, who were in charge of discipline. When Harry Potter returned to Hogwarts on 2 May 1998, Anthony was present in the Room of Requirement with the other D.A. members. During the ensuing Battle of Hogwarts, he helped escort younger students to safety before the fighting began, demonstrating his continued commitment to his Prefect duties. He then stayed to fight against Voldemort and his forces. His fate after the battle is unknown.
Physical Appearance and Personality
Anthony Goldstein's physical appearance is not described in the novels. As a Ravenclaw Prefect, he was clearly considered responsible and intelligent by the Hogwarts staff. His decision to join Dumbledore's Army and later fight in the Battle of Hogwarts shows immense bravery and loyalty to his friends and to the cause of opposing Voldemort. He was a dependable and steadfast ally.
