History
The Ireland National Quidditch Team's most documented achievement is their performance during the 1994 Quidditch World Cup. Having reached the final, they faced the Bulgaria national Quidditch team, a formidable opponent featuring the world-renowned Seeker Viktor Krum. The final match took place on Dartmoor, England, in a massive stadium protected by extensive Muggle-Repelling Charms. The Irish team, clad in green, was supported by a large contingent of fans and their Leprechaun mascots, who created a rainbow over the stadium. The game was exceptionally fast and brutal. Ireland's Chasers—Troy, Moran, and Mullet—proved to be a superior force, effectively using formations such as the Hawkshead Attacking Formation to score repeatedly. They quickly established a significant lead over Bulgaria. The Irish Seeker, Lynch, was tasked with tailing Viktor Krum, who successfully employed the dangerous Wronski Feint multiple times, causing Lynch to crash into the ground on one occasion. Despite the relentless Irish offense, the match was ultimately decided by Viktor Krum. Seeing that his team was too far behind to win by points, Krum caught the Golden Snitch. This act ended the match, awarding Bulgaria 150 points but securing the overall victory for Ireland, as they were still ahead. The final score was Ireland 170, Bulgaria 160. Following their victory, the team's Leprechaun mascots showered the stadium with Leprechaun Gold, which famously vanished hours later, much to the disappointment of spectators like Ron Weasley.
